NYS Route 987D Over Saw Mill River

Three drilled shafts that the contractor installed failed testing because of anomalies discovered in the concrete.  The GC had a strict schedule and could not lose time for redesign or replacement of the failed drilled shafts.

AKIS was hired to remove the drilled shaft anomaly.  AKIS utilized its high pressure pumps to hydro-demo out the bad concrete at the elevation required.  Once the anomaly was removed, the GC was able to fill the void with grout and the three failed drilled shafts were approved for use.
